about me

Hi! My name is Ren Q. Dawe (he/they). I am a trans activist, stand-up comedian, writer, and educator. I am also the first queer person to ever perform in all 50 states.

Currently, I’m organizing the "Here to Pee" campaign—a groundbreaking comedy tour featuring an all-trans lineup visiting all 50 states. This tour is meant as both a playful act of civil disobedience and a powerful statement on the dignity and rights of trans individuals. In addition to stand-up performances, the campaign seeks to raise funds for local LGBTQ+ nonprofits, foster community resilience, and amplify the voices of trans people nationwide. As part of the campaign, we’re also documenting the tour to share its impact far and wide with award-winning documentarian Jeff Stonic

If you want to support our effort, and help us raise money for the dozens of non-profits we've partnered with all over the country, you can donate to our cause here

I have been featured in nearly 3 dozen comedy festivals across the country. My work has been featured on tv and radio, and I received the Best Stand Up Performance Award at Pack Hollywood Comedy Festival last year.

I run a podcast called "Punch Up" where I interview performers from all over about comedy writing, performance tips, and what the creative process looks like for folks.

I am the founder and producer of the Colorado Queer Comedy Festival, which is one of the most well-attended queer comedy festivals in the country, featuring queer artists from around the globe.

In my day job, I serve as the Education and Programs Director for the You Can Play Project, where I design training materials and consult on inclusive policy for major sports leagues across North America to ensure LGBTQ+ athletes and fans are safe and supported.

I’ve also had the honor of teaching education policy, universal design, and LGBTQ+ inclusion at multiple institutions including edX, Rocky Mountain Equality, PowerToFly, Big Panda, and Columbia University’s Teachers College. Using accessible learning platforms and a touch of humor, I’ve empowered teams to embrace diversity and build more inclusive cultures, processes, and policies.

I'm a writer and published poet, contributing to the academic discourse on trans identities with pieces such as my contributions to the The Currere Exchange. My poetry collection "Old Gold" was also a #1 Best Seller on Amazon in LGBTQ+ literature.

On the side, I’m a yoga teacher, whitewater raft guide, burlesque dancer, and a pro home cook.
